Johnny Best has money, a Malibu home, and far too much free time.

What he does not have is much excitement.

So the retired Los Angeles dot-com millionaire signs up with a Ukrainian marriage agency and flies to Kyiv.

There he meets Olga, an aspiring actress from the industrial city of Kryvyi Rih.

For Johnny, life suddenly improves dramatically.

There are restaurants, nightclubs, attention, affection, and the flattering discovery that being a wealthy American abroad appears to make him considerably more interesting than being a wealthy American in Malibu.

For six months, Johnny begins believing he has found exactly what he came looking for.

Then small things stop adding up.

A Foreign Affair is a darkly comic story about romance, vanity, money, and the dangerous human tendency to believe an attractive explanation simply because we desperately want it to be true.

Set between California and Kyiv and based on real-life events, it follows a man who thinks his greatest advantage is money.

Eventually he discovers that other people noticed the same thing.
